Open House IMRI, in collaboration with CCAM, held its second open house where participants had the opportunity to interact with staff scientists and better understand why the institute is the leading materials characterization facility in Southern California.
The event was well attended with over 40 industry and academic participants. It was a great experience for people to explore and learn about our institute

The 5th International Symposium on Advanced Microscopy and Spectroscopy (ISAMS-5)The 5th International Symposium on Advanced Microscopy and Spectroscopy (ISAMS-5) was held December 4th through December 6th in 2023. We had 29 invited speakers, and more than 150 attendees. ISAMS-5 was in general well attended by UCI, and other UC researchers as well as some industry representatives (JEOL, Gatan, Tescan, Protochips, Nion, Direct Electron, etc.)

UCI-STEM 2023 (2nd UCI-STEM)UCI-STEM 2023 (2nd UCI-STEM) was held from December 7th through 8th with two tracks, STEM Spectroscopy & 4D-STEM (T1) and Cryo-EM (T2) tracks. 26 and 7 students participated in T1 and T2 respectively.

ESAB Meeting CCAM held an in-person external scientific advisory board (ESAB) meeting, and six of seven ESAB members (three in person and three virtually) attended the meeting. CCAM’s director, Xiaoqing Pan, presented the MRSEC program overview. Leads from Interdisciplinary Research Groups (IRGs), education and outreach, innovation and collaboration, and shared facilities reported their recent progress and strategic plans at the meeting. Board members interacted actively with CCAM members and provided highly advisory feedback to the CCAM team and the Director.
