Future Materials (K-12)

CCAM engages with local communities and school districts to encourage young minds to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Our partners, include the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement program, Samueli Academy, and OC STEM. At CCAM, we create and provide educational modules for K-12 teachers that highlight scientific and technological breakthroughs relevant to our research. Our Future Materials and STEM Corps initiatives, key parts of our MRSEC’s education and outreach efforts, offer a range of activities designed to spark and sustain interest in STEM fields among (pre)K-12 students. These initiatives also focus on building capacity and maintaining long-term engagement in STEM career paths.

The STEM Corps program equips CCAM junior research fellows and associated students with training to lead Future Materials outreach activities, enhancing their abilities as STEM educators. We welcome those interested in forming a partnership to contact us and join our mission in inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers.
