Education Outreach
The Center for Complex and Active Materials (CCAM) actively collaborates with local communities and school districts to foster an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers. We develop and deploy educational modules for K-12 students, showcasing scientific and technological breakthroughs relevant to our research.
Our education and outreach initiatives, namely Future Materials and STEM Corps, are integral components of our MRSEC’s efforts. These initiatives feature a variety of activities tailored to ignite and sustain interest in STEM fields among K-12 students, with the goal of building capacity and ensuring prolonged engagement in STEM career paths.
STEM Corps provides CCAM junior research fellows and graduate students with training on educational module development, which empowers them to lead outreach activities related to Future Materials. This enhances their capabilities as STEM educators and solidifies their scientific identity.
We extend a warm welcome to those interested in forming partnerships to contact us and join our mission of inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers. Email Prof. Regina Ragan – Education & Outreach director at rragan@uci.edu,
