CCAM Graduate Student Received 2024 NSF GRFP Award

Kaitlyn Dold, a second year graduate student in the Arguilla group (MRSEC SEED 2024), received the prestigious 2024 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Award. As part of this fellowship, Kaitlyn will continue her efforts in discovering new types of all-inorganic 1D van der Waals crystals that display rare helical motifs. The main goal of her proposed work is to establish the structure-composition-property properties (optical/electronic/mechanical) of a recently discovered class of helical solids in the Arguilla group. Kaitlyn will also develop unique hands-on activities that will introduce middle school and high school students to concepts in solid state chemistry and optical properties of non-centrosymmetric materials.

Congratulations to Kaitlyn!
