Applications are now open for CCAM’s 2026 Summer Programs, offering students hands-on experience in materials science research and exposure to cutting-edge labs.

REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) is an eight-week full-time program for undergraduate students who are interested in materials science research and want to explore graduate studies. Participants will conduct hands-on research under the extensive mentorship of faculty and graduate students, attend materials bootcamps and lab tours, join graduate school preparation and professional development workshops, and present their research in a poster session and end-of-program symposium. Students receive a $5,000 stipend, travel allowance, and on-campus housing and meals. For more information, visit: REU website.

M-SPIRE (Materials Science Program for Interdisciplinary Research Experience) is a two-week full-time program designed for high school rising juniors and seniors, as well as California community college students who want to gain hands-on research experience. Participants will engage in interactive lab activities, tours, and mentorship to learn about materials science research and career opportunities. For more information, visit: M-SPIRE website.

We encourage faculty, staff, and students to share these opportunities with motivated learners who want to explore materials science research and gain valuable research experience.
